The Isle of Eigg is a seldom visited island of the Inner Hebrides, often overlooked for the more popular Isle of Skye or Mull. With an incredible geological history however, combined with the dramatic mountainous outline of the Isle of Rum as a backdrop, Eigg is an ideal location for landscape photography. This is a photography workshop and we are running it in association with Kase filters who will be suppling some of their pro-quality products for us to use during the trip.
Our time on Eigg will allow you to find, plan and execute the perfect shot. From the unique shapes and textures you’ll find in the sand on Laig beach, to the varied and otherworldly rock formations of the Singing Sands, there is something here for everyone. Add in the changing light typical of this time of year, and you’ll likely return home with a vast array of different images. Our trip will also provide a great way to develop your photographic techniques, ranging from the use of filters and long exposure photography, to honing your understanding of depth of field and composition. Our goal is for you to leave the Isle of Eigg with a greater understanding of technique, how to apply it in varying situations, as well as a collection of amazing shots and a yearning to return to this quiet and unique corner of the British Isles.
The days in May are long, so we factor in lots of rest time. Expect to be shooting until just after sunset at 11pm, and be out before sunrise by 4am, so we'll be resting for periods during the day. During this time we will hold informal post production and critique sessions for anyone interested.
As with all our trips, we will have two guides to ensure everyone gets both group and one-to-one tuition time if required.
