China Photo Workshop 44

Our trips to China offer an experience which simply cannot be achieved without local knowledge and local translators. This holiday is all about seeing the authentic side of China and being shown how best to document everything you witness with stunning photography. Our 2020 trip starts in Beijing, before moving to one of the great wonders of the world - the Great Wall of China. The heart of China is our next destination, exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Guillin and Zhangjiajie.

Although our trips are marketed as photo holidays, they are more about providing unique experiences which in turn offer the best photo opportunities. Our China trips are totally unique, in that we are able to get off the tourist trails to give you a truly authentic experience of the real China. We’ll spend a night in Beijing to allow everyone to settle in, before heading north where we’ll spend two nights at a section of the Great Wall which is not open to mass tourism. This means we’ll likely to have the wall to ourselves. which is not only great for photography, but will provide an unforgettable experience as you sit alone and watch the sun rise and set from atop one of the true wonders of the world. This section of the Wall is mostly authentic, which makes it look as old as it actually is. With trees growing out of it from all directions, and with sides crumbling away, it makes for the perfect photographic subject. We’ll be there just as the autumn colour is peaking, and at a time of year which is neither too hot or too cold.

We then head into the heart of China, bound for Guilin, one of China’s most recognisable landscapes. We’ll be escaping the crowds and heading to a quiet village on the banks of the Li River. The mornings and evenings will be spent getting into the best locations for photography, with the days spent exploring through the area. Zhangjiajie (Jang-Jar-Jee-a) China’s first National Park and location for the Hollywood film Avatar, is our next stop. This is truly one of the world’s most breathtaking landscapes, with vertical columns of sandstone rising hundreds of metres into the air from a deep canyon floor. We will explore the views from both above and below. Our departure point is Hong Kong, where members of the group can then either, return home or extend their stay for a couple of days in order to explore Asia’s most vibrant city.

As with all our trips, we will have two professional photography guides to ensure everyone gets one-to-one tuition time if required. We also have a full time translator with us to allow us to mingle with the locals.

This really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a unique and authentic travel experience which will stay with you forever.
